THE CHURNING OF THINGS HUMBLE (ODE TO HILMA)

ALEX MACEDA

Oil and Beeswax on Canvas

50 x 40 inches

This large-scale composition is directly inspired by spiritual abstractionist Hilma af Klimt’s “The 10 Largest” painting series, which the artist saw in-person on a synchronistic trip to Düsseldorf the summer she created this series. Circular forms allude to desert boulders and celestial bodies, the sun and moon, and create a dreamlike boundary that attempts to hold the viewer. The blues match the different shades of the desert sky found throughout the day.

Ships Framed: Each piece is beautifully framed in handcrafted basswood. The frames are meticulously sanded, stained in an antique oak finish, and sealed with satin for a timeless, elegant appearance.
