I WISHED FOR THIS ATOP GOAT MOUNTAIN

ALEX MACEDA

Oil and Beeswax on Canvas

Diptych, 49 x 65 inches

A sister painting to, "the desert will hold you," "i wished for this atop goat mountain," depicts a similar landscape without an explicit figure. "goat mountain" invites the viewer to project themselves into this space and reflect on what their deepest wish is. The mountain is a favorite hike of the artist's in Landers, a town next to Joshua Tree, a place where she has often made her deepest wishes. The title gives a nod to the significance of the show, especially given her life circumstances.
