Marcel Rozek’s work delves into the interplay of color and transparency through a staining technique influenced by early abstractionists and the Washington Color School. By pouring liquefied, diluted paint onto raw, unprimed canvas, Rozek allows the paint to form organic, fluid shapes that absorb and blend at varying rates. This process yields overlapping, spectral forms that invite viewers into a landscape of deep, blurred colors, highlighting both the intentionality and spontaneity of his practice.
