THE DESERT WILL HOLD YOU

Triptych, 48 x 73 inches
"the desert will hold you," depicts a woman in a desert landscape. Both night and day simultaneously engulf her, as depicted by the rolling sky and the sun and the moon. The painting is a self-portrait of sorts, painted after the artist found out she'd be leaving the desert. Aspects of the land are anthropomorphized and specific favorite 'characters' -- Goat Mountain in Landers and an Apricot Mallow Flower, common in the area around The Graham Residence in the spring -- are immortalized.
Ships Framed: Each piece is beautifully framed in handcrafted basswood. The frames are meticulously sanded, stained in an antique oak finish, and sealed with satin for a timeless, elegant appearance.
